Can I use a 2S battery with ER-50 NG retracts?
ER-50 NG retracts are rated for 3S LiPo voltage. Therefore, the battery that you have to connect to the retract unit controller, should be a 3S battery.
With a 2S battery, the ER-50 NG retracts will work, but the speed and torque of the retract will be reduced. Depending on the length and weight of the strut and the wheel, and other factors, the performance of the retract with a 2S battery could be enough to operate properly.

What retracts can be upgraded to square thread SPINDLE?
All retracts purchased from January 2013. The serial number must start by 13, 14, 15, 16, etc… (the first two digit indicate the manufacturing year)

Can I REVERSE the retract trunion, or change the RETRACTION ANGLE?
This is possible only in the “reversible version” of our retracts, released from January 2015 onwards. You can find the indicative “reversible” engraved next to the serial number.

What BATERY can I use with my retracts?
Electron suggest using a single small battery for retracts and brakes, and don´t share the receiver or engine battery.
500-900 mAh will be enough for at least 25 flights, so with a very small battery you will have power enough for a full flying day

The BRAKES haven´t enough POWER to stop my plane in the desired distance
Voltage increase: The last software for ER-30 and ER-40 allows to increase the voltage up to 13V (not for ER-50). With 3S LiPo it is posible increase the brake torque a little. Old control units can be updated with the new software: (contact us). Is possible test the controller with 3S LiPo to know if this controller accept 13V. If not, the retracts simply will not run, nothing should burn. The ER-50 is limited to 10V for security, so only mechanical adjustments are posible.

What are the differences between ControlBox and SmartBox?
The ControlBox allows you to perform the most essential operations: extend and retract the landing gear, apply proportional brakes, and controlling the steering servo. It also features a “Manual mode”, which allows you to extend and retract the connected landing gears by pressing a button on the ControlBox itself.
However, if you require of a sequencer for gear doors, or you would like gyro assist for landings, the SmartBox is the best choice.
The SmartBox features a full color touchscreen, and allows to adjust all parameters through various menus. It includes a door sequencer for up to 8 servos, and gyro-assisted braking for landings, to keep the model on a straight trayectory. It also allows deeper levels of adjustment for the brakes and the steering servo.

Can I use a third-party controller with Electron retracts?
Retract sets are always supplied with a compatible and tested original controller.
Using a third-party controller with any of our retracts will void your product’s warranty. We do not endorse, recommend or support this practice.
The warranty excludes damage due to misuse of the systems, or damage caused by causes beyond the manufacturer’s control.
Electron Retracts guarantees ONLY original Electron products. Retracts and controllers should be used together. Electron is not responsible for damaged retracts as a result of the use of third-party controllers. In the same way, Electron Retracts is not responsible for any damage caused to Electron controllers as a result of use with retracts from third-party manufacturers.

With the current situation after Brexit, it’s not possible for us to process purchases of less than 150€ (around 130 £). Orders above this amount will be processed and considered as exportations, no VAT will be applied , and the shipments will have to go through the customs (please be aware taxes or fees may apply in those cases).
